Space Invaders is one game that likes to just rear its head from time to time and say “hey look I am still about.” Just like an aging relative, who you love but more so when the where you where younger and have fonder memories.

Space invaders Forever is three iterations of a classic game that we don’t need, but we will enjoy if you are a fan for the 1978 classic arcade game. I love Space Invaders I really do I have loads of fond memories of playing this game, but at times there comes a point that a classic has to stay a classic. Here is just that.

We have a compilation of three games each slightly different (ok one very different) than the last.

Space Invaders Extreme

This iteration of the game is as the same old formula(ish) move ship from left-to-right shoot invaders repeat. There have been some improvements made first, the graphics have been overhauled and made lovely and shiny while keeping the pixel look. With a new neon backgrounds it looks lovely.

The Invaders are not the typical drop down the screen with a simple straight down the line shot. They shoot at different speeds and patterns, some will explode, all the typical things we expect from this type of shooter. This good for your ship too it has new weapons and more speed.

Space Invaders Gigamax 4 SE

This attrition of Space invaders is more like the original 1978 game with the slow plodding ships and Invaders move ever closer to the bottom of the screen. With a few slight changes. This is now a multiplayer experience. It is extremely hard as a single player game, as the game has stretched the screen out to fit in four players.

This is not the biggest change, this change is only shown when the invaders make it to the bottom of the screen. Instead of the usual game over, we get the UFO come across the screen and lift the remaining invaders back up. Then the UFO will attack you, each time the UFO comes it gets larger and larger. Making it harder and harder to survive.

Arkanoid vs. Space Invaders

Originally a mobile game, this masses up two of Tiato games: Arkanoid and Space Invaders that works really well. As in Arkanoid, you bounce back the shots that the invaders. If you do not hit a shot from an invader, there is no penalty, except maybe fewer shots too hot a brick or invader. With 150 levels, each with their own aim. These can sometimes be sheer mayhem and not to mention bosses, this will keep you on your toes for sure.

I did enjoy my time with Space Invaders Forever and its three games, but like I stated, it could be time to let this classic be a classic. It was a good mix of new and old and something different. With a nice mix up of gameplay that was refreshing to see, If you are a fan of space invaders, it worth a play at least.
