Krut: The Mythic Wing I so wanted more from this than anyone got. It’s a shame as Taiwanese mythology is filled with some great, captivating and interesting stories.

Krut is based on the 2018 animated Taiwanese film of the same name. I have never heard of it, so don’t worry.

You play as a Garuda named Vera who is from the city of Krut. A noble and loyal warrior who tries to defend his homeland of Ayothaya from the might of Zulla and his army. So strong he smacks Vera to the island of Himmaphan, where he meets a strange hermit who gives him the Mythic Wings.

However, the wings of legend have lost their power. It is up to Vera to travel across the island and recover the elements needed to revive the wings to their full power.

Are We Finished Yet

Krut is a very basic and lackluster hack-and-slash platform that is more of a bother than a grand adventure. The gameplay loop is simple six levels, a midway mini boss and the elemental boss at the end. Within the levels, you will take down hordes of Monsters and some light platforming that gets progressively more complex, I guess.

Oh, it gets worse, more so with the clunky controls. Firstly, with battles you have attack, dodge, jump and special attacks. It gets very boring after about an hour, as it does not change throughout the game.

It Goes On

The platforming element of Krut starts off simple, with easy basic jumps from one platform to another. This is serviceable, as the game progresses (if you get this far). The jumps turn into the precision styled jumps, where tight responsive controls. Let’s say Krut is far from this. For a character with wings, he sucks at jumping.

A Slight Redeem

Kurt looks lovely at least, from the world to the enemies. With the cool look over the top wing attacks. This is the game’s one redeeming feature.

Overall, I have to say Krut the Mythic Wings fails on almost all aspects of enjoyment. The game could have been a grand adventure l, now feels like a rushed job.

Unless you really like playing the same thing for hours on end, then give it a miss.
