The Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is both of the first two games that were initially on the PS1. Then released on the Wii and now brought to the Switch with the second game in the series. Is it any good?

In the Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series, you play as you guessed it, Klonoa. In Klonoa’s two best adventures, Door to Phantomile, a PS1 game released for the Wii and KLONOA 2: Lunatea’s Veil which was released for PS2.

I Am A Fan

As a fan of the Klonoa series, I have to say the move from PS1 and PS2 has worked out fantastically. Both games look stunning, more so Door to Phantomile. This is a fitting remake for our almost forgotten friend.

Playing through both these games made me realise how good they were back in the day. With the game being a weird amalgamation of 2.5D gameplay and 3D puzzle elements. As you will have Klonoa moving back and forth throughout the level as well as in the middle. Making some interesting puzzle elements.

It’s All Fun

There is something relaxing and feels good about playing a game that has simple controls. Klonoa hits all the right notes for challenge, fun, and overall enjoyment.

There is more than just running back and forth and jumping. Klonoa has a wind ring. This is Klonoa’s weapon. It allows him to suck an enemy and suspend them over his head. Where he can throw them at objects or other enemies and, more importantly, the enemies can be used for double jumps to get about the level.

It makes for a great experience both for old and new players. However, my only gripe is the price as it seems a bit on the high side.

Overall, Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is still a great game that will appeal to both kids and adults alike. The simple but engaging controls with super bright colours and beautifully crafted levels.

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is a bit on the expensive side bit it is still a must buy.
