Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Infinite Combate, what a title. As this is an anime tie in then of course there will be a daft title here it is. I will reframe form using it and use Infinite Combate.
The story here is that the god have come to the world of Orario and have started up their own guilds and give the members/followers tremendous powers and revile in the victories and power.
The story revolves around Bell Cranel and his Goddess Hestia. Bell is nothing special and is Hesita’s only follower. Until his fateful meeting with Aiz Wallenstein who he loves. Oh, it also includes every anime trope you will expect from a game with this title.
There are a ton of characters that you will get to interact with and play as. With their own stories and new ones just for the game, being playable. The story is presented in a visual novel style. This leans well to the anime roots, however I felt these where sub par and even though MAGES did a good job of getting the story in to the game, it was lacking. This could have been due to the lack of voice acting, under half was acted, while the rest was the grunts or Hai! mostly. I rather one or the other.
Bell can now have more intimate relationships with any girl he feels like, just throw that in to add to the tropes. Nice addition to the game and an extra layer of something to do but nothing outstanding.
The saving grace for Infinite Combate is the dungeon Crawling, simple to pick up and play with a fun and engaging game loop. Add on top of that loads of side quests and extras to do. They are on to a winner of getting me at least to sink hours and hours in to leveling up each character. The combat is basic with normal heavy charged attack and special attack.
MAGES did a great job of making the dungeon areas not being too big they get boring and to small they fell to short. There is enough difficulty for everyone to handle and I never felt under powered in any of the game. Adding in two supporting characters that can unleash devastating special attacks, there’s loads of fun to be had.
Overall Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Infinite Combate (ok I had to get it in again) does a decent job of translating the feel of being a dungeon crawler in the world of Orario. With an engaging combat loop. Shame it drops the loot with the story parts.
