Review Rush was kindly supplied with a review code.

Giraffe and Annika is a lovely little adventure that revolves around Annika the last of the Felycans, a cat like human race with fully ears and tail. She wakes up after a dream on the island of Spica with no memories. Not long after waking up Annika meets Giraffe, a wolf like human. He tells her she must retrieve the three star fragments and this will restore her memory.

The story is a bit of a slow burner to start with, it feeds bits of information to the player. While never revealing the entire story until the end… is worth it too.

The gameplay in Giraffe and Annika is simple, and it is strangely a lovely break from the more hardcore platformers/adventure games out there. It’s a case of wandering about Spica, finding the next dungeon area, completing it and getting a new power up. These power-ups open areas that were not accessible before.

There is very little violence here, yes enemies will attack you and you lose health. This is in a cartoon fashion that it cute. The boss fights are different in a good way. The bosses are a rhythm based puzzle that sees Annika pressing A on the correct side of the screen to a beat, while dodging the projectiles. I loved this simple and enjoyable mechanic.

One big thing to note here about Giraffe and Annika is that it is not in any shape or form aimed at the players who want a challenge. This is for players who are looking for a relaxing time. Atelier mimina does a great job of making a game that is enjoyable but also relaxing.

The music is amazing I could listen to that all day long. The graphics are not the best some textures are a little grainy and could do with a bit of polish here and there. However, the world is still charming and cute.

If you are looking for something relaxing and not challenging, Giraffe and Annika is for you. This is the most important point to make. The game is enjoyable; the characters are cute.

I would however wait for a bit of a sale for this one.
