In Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes you play as Shez a mercenary and it is set before the event of Three Houses. Shaz was defeated by the Ashen Demon Byleth, and only survived by a being called Arval. Now bent on revenge, Shaz eventually runs in and saves the three nobles. After which Shaz joins one of the three nobles’ house and, depending on the noble, Shaz joins will determine the storyline.

Each story line makes it worth playing through each of the campaigns. They are all well written and voiced and each is just fantastic.

Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes game

Musou Fire Emblem

There is nothing inherently different from any other Musou title. You are still going to rack up 2000 kill combos. There are still the high action hack-and-slash battles, with the over the top special moves and slashes of weapons that have their own trails.

In every way Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes is a massive up step in terms of story from its predecessor Fire Emblem Warriors. While keeping the core, gameplay feels better and with some slight gameplay differences.

Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes feels like a complete game, with all the things that you would expect from Koei. With a few extra bits added. Gone are the menus you will need to flick through. In stead we have a full realised hub, with shops, blacksmiths, and companions.

Strategy Counts

One addition I really enjoyed is the ability to swap from Shaz to one companion. This becomes one of the best features in the game. As now, the named enemies will have an affinity for what weapon class they are weak and strong against. So if you are Shaz and the next named enemy has a down arrow, you can change to a companion to get the edge in a battle.

Along with this, sending companions to fight is a strategy you must master to complete missions. This is done from the menu: you select any party member and can move them to the enemy you want them to take on. It’s a nice way to add strategy to your mass killing.

Overall Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes is a must have for Fire Emblem fans and Musou fans alike. It has everything from marvellous story, controls, and world. This is a must buy.
